| Air & sea port security to be tightened |
| 11 Dec 2008 |
| The Mauritian government has announced new measures will be introduced at air and sea ports in an effort to tighten security against terrorism, but emphasise that it will not delay travellers. At the International Airport there will be the introduction of a colour-coded alert system, a new computerised border control system and an Advance Passenger Information system. Also filming and photography at the airport will not be allowed.
A new high security fence has been erected along the perimeter of the harbour at Port Louis and that access to the area is now restricted and controlled by closed circuit television.
